Dr. Sullivan is forming a web-based consultation group for professionals who work with high conflict coparents. If there is enough interest to have 6-8 members, Dr. Sullivan will lead a monthly consultation group, using Web-ex, which allows for video conferencing, or connecting via computer or telephone.

Please see the draft guidelines published by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) task force on Court-involved therapy. Dr. Sullivan co-chaired this task force that is focused on providing best practices for mental health professionals providing counseling and therapy services to adults, children and families, when the therapy is Court-ordered or becomes Court-involved. Issues such as confidentiality, responding to subpeonas, working with other professionals are addressed. This is the first set of professional practice guidelines ever published dealing with this tricky role.

Consultation in Child Custody Cases

Dr. Sullivan has written a chapter in a book that will be published in the next couple of months by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. The book is entitled, Innovations in Family Law, and the chapter written by Dr. Sullivan and colleague, Elena Hobbs-Minor, is entitled, “Mental Health Consultation in Child Custody Cases” . The chapter describes this emerging mental health role with attorneys and parents moving through the courts.
