AFCC draft guidelines for Court-Involved Therapy

Please see the draft guidelines published by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) task force on Court-involved therapy. Dr. Sullivan co-chaired this task force that is focused on providing best practices for mental health professionals providing counseling and therapy services to adults, children and families, when the therapy is Court-ordered or becomes Court-involved. Issues such as confidentiality, responding to subpeonas, working with other professionals are addressed. This is the first set of professional practice guidelines ever published dealing with this tricky role.

Advanced Parenting Coordination Training: August 11, 2010

Dr. Sullivan will join Drs. Joan Kelly and Robin Deutsch in proving a full day advanced training for Parenting Coordinators. This training will take place as part of the American Psychological Association annual Convention in San Diego, California on August 11, 2010. It is a preconference workshop and provides 6 hours of continuing education for psychologists. There will be a cocktail reception after the day, sponsored by local San Diego organizations.

Dr. Sullivan has co-chaired a task force commissioned by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts to develop practice guidelines for Court-Involved therapy. The 10 member, multi-disciplinary (judges, attorneys, mental health profesisonals) across the United States and Canada, has completed it’s 2-year project and is putting a 30-page set of guidelines out for comment.
